The Role

The role is for SWIFTNet FIN,  FileAct and SWIFT infrastructure solution specialist SME. A solutions specialist is responsible for technical analysis of business and technical requirements and provides solution to fulfil requirements for given platform. The requirements can be driven by business requirements or project requirements. A solution specialist is responsible to work with Lead solutions specialist to provide solutions for such business and technical requirements.

To qualify for this role, you must have a good academic record with a relevant professional degree from a college/university and must have detailed SWIFT knowledge.  The role requires working as per UK hours.

What the Business Does

This role is in Payments SWIFT Gateways technology team.  Payments Swift gateways technology team is part of payment technology area and is responsible for managing all SWIFT Gateways and SWIFT infrastructure globally.  The team is also responsible to provide SWIFT expertise to various business areas and other technology team. The team is responsible for all the technical changes and management of all SWIFT platforms.

Your Responsibilities

The person performing the solution specialist role for each platform is responsible for :-

• Technical analysis of requirements
• Define changes required in applications to full-fill requirements
• Technical analysis of changes required on regular basis due to end of life
• Implementation of changes in all environments including production

Key Responsibilities

• Technical analysis of requirements
  • Analyse impact of applications as a result of new requirements
  • Identify changes required in applications to fulfil new requirements
  • Analyse and identify impact of upgrading core software such as database, application servers, and OS versions.
  • Prepare analysis documents
  • Work with application vendor on receive changes to application and new application releases
• Implementation of changes
  • Prepare change documentation
  • Raise changes in change control application
  • Provide information to change approvers and get change approved
  • Implement changes during change window including week end
• Testing support
  • Review test documents
  • Assist testing team in test configuration and test execution
  • Trouble shoot and resolve any issues encountered during testing
  • Review test results

• Assistance in production support and application management
  • Assist AM team to review re-occurring issues
  • Assist AM team in any production outage
  • Assist AM team to review application health

Skills you need

Essential Skills

Holder of this role must have the following skills

• Proven track record of technical analysis of requirements
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Managing changes in project and business as usual
• Experience in working with  application vendors
• Experience in required technology such as application server, java, MQ, databases
• In-depth knowledge of SWIFT gateways and protocols
• In-depth knowledge of SWIFNet Fin, FileAct & infrastructure such as SAGs, HSMs
• Good knowledge of SWIFT infrastructure
• Good knowledge of SWIFT services
• Good knowledge of industry schemes such as Chaps, Faster payments, RTGS, SEPA, BACS.
• A working knowledge of
  • Project methodologies
  • Project toolsets - so Planview & Oracle (finance tool)
  • Change Management processes, including use of INFOMAN
  • Knowledge of File transfer solutions such as C:D

Desirable skills

• Experience of the Payments environment/infrastructure/topology generally
• in-depth understanding of their own platform(s)
• Experience in designing and developing applications
• Ability to trouble shoot issues and willingness for hands-on  approach
• Experience in IBM sterling gateway product, STAR Fin gateway and SWIFT gateways such as SAA
